چکیده

We briefly review some non-accelerator high-frequency applications of superconductors. These include the use of high-Tc superconductors in front-end band-pass filters in cellular telephone base stations, the High Temperature Superconductor Space Experiment, and high-speed digital electronics. We also present an overview of our work on a novel form of near-field scanning microscopy at microwave frequencies. This form of microscopy can be used to investigate the microwave properties of metals and dielectrics on length scales as small as 1 μm. With this microscope we have demonstrated quantitative imaging of sheet resistance and topography at microwave frequencies. An examination of the local microwave response of the surface of a heattreated bulk Nb sample is also presented.

Superconducting Microstrip-Fed Antenna Coupled to a Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector

A proper antenna to couple to a microstrip Microwave Kinetic Inductance Detector (MKID) is designed and simulated. A twin-slot microstrip-fed inline antenna is designed for frequency band of 600-720~GHz integrated with an elliptical lens and coupled to the MKID. A systematic design procedure for design of such antenna with microstrip inline feeding is presented. Whole structure of lens and twin...

Imaging of microwave intermodulation fields in a superconducting microstrip resonator

Nonlinearities give rise to intermodulation distortion in superconducting microwave devices and currently limit their use to low power applications. We have developed a cryogenic imaging technique to spatially resolve intermodulation distortion and used it to image an 8.2 GHz high temperature superconducting Tl2Ba2CaCu2O8 microwave resonator. The images reveal that the fundamental and intermodu...

Fluorescence microscopy in a microwave cavity.

Optical microscopy is a well-established technique that has wide ranging applications for imaging molecular dynamics of biological systems. Typically, these applications rely on external temperature controllers to maintain or change reactions rates of these biological systems. With increasing interest in applying low power microwaves to drive biological and chemical reactions, we have combined ...

Magnetic investigation of microwave synthesized and thermal stable poly vinyl alcohol-cobalt ferrite nanocomposites

We synthesized CoFe2O4 nanoparticles using heating in various times by simple microwave method at power about 600W. Water, ethylene glycol and their combination were used as solvent. X-ray diffraction pattern(XRD) analysis was performed for evaluation of structural characterization of samples. We also used scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to evaluate the effects of various parameters of heati...
